Volunteer with Hands On Harvests

There are several ways you can volunteer with Hands On Harvests:

Grow veggies, herbs and fruit to donate as part of HOH's Grow A Row program. No amount is too small. HOH can give you soil test kits, seeds, plants and mentorship. Weigh and prepare your donation, then take it to a pantry near you. You also can leave your donation at a drop-off host site or may be able to request a pick-up. Report your donation by filling out our online form.

Grow food and care for native plants at our demonstration garden, the EGG, in the Eileen Garnett Civic Space at 7200 Columbia Pike. See the home page for a list of upcoming workdays.

Be a garden mentor or translator/interpreter.

  • One-on-one mentors answer gardeners' questions through email, phone calls, site visits -- whatever works for you.

  • Community garden mentors support growers at HOH gardens at scheduled times.

  • If you're a Master Gardener, you can receive service hour credit for doing this. Here's how it works.

  • Translators and interpreters make communication smooth between mentor and gardener. They also can assist with outreach documents and HOH events. Spanish and Korean fluency most needed.

Host a drop-off location where neighbors can leave their bagged or boxed donations on days and times set by you.

Be a courier. Pick up and deliver Potomac Vegetable Farms harvests in Vienna on Mondays or Tuesdays. Volunteers on their first visit go with an experienced courier and can always pick the dates they deliver.

Help in-house with fundraising, publicity, videos, website management, data collection and other admin jobs.

And, of course, you can support HOH financially on PayPal or by sending a check to PO Box 6547, Falls Church VA 22040.
