Supporting our community

Northern Virginia growers can help fulfill the need for fresh, healthy vegetables, fruits and herbs.

Scroll down for a list of pantries taking fresh produce donations.

27% of people living in Fairfax County don't get enough to eat, according to the Capital Area Food Bank's Hunger Report 2024. That's more than anywhere else in Virginia.

Because the DC metro area's living wage is almost 3 times the federal poverty level, about 25% of area households live above the poverty line but still struggle to pay for basics like food and housing. (To learn more about food insecurity in our area, see the USDA food atlas.) At the same time, the USDA estimates that 30-40% of all food in the US food supply is wasted.

Contact Hands On Harvests if you are

  • a food bank or pantry that would like to receive Grow a Row donations or be added to our list.

  • a farm or production garden that would like to arrange pick-up of your surplus harvest.
